Season Preview: Arsenal

Silvestre was not his finest moment

The Gunners start another season again looking to win their first trophy since the 2005 FA Cup. Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh will add to the attack but releasing William Gallas only makes the back four even weaker. Unless Arsene Wenger finds a way to break through a frozen transfer market, expect hilarious keeper errors from Almunia and Fabianski all season long. The Arsenal need to avoid another injury crisis but will start the season already without the services of Alex Song, Abou Diaby, Denilson, or Nicklas Bendtner.

Cesc Fabregas has returned to the North London club after a summer filled with rumors that he would be headed to Barcelona. Despite Pepe Reina’s best efforts (and why was he involved? strange.) to force the Arsenal captain into the blaugrana, Wenger stood fast against a rather pathetic 29 million pound bit. To put that into perspective, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was transferred from Internazionale for 49 million Euros AND Samuel Eto’o, a player that many people prefer to Z. So, Barca handled themselves like assholes. Regardless, the little Catalan will pick up where he left off, Arshavin will play brilliantly when he cares to and look for Samir Nasri to have a break out season. Also, expect them to win nothing, in style.

Sing it with me, people (Seven Nation Army): EEEEeeeeeemanuel Ebbouuueeeee, EEEeeeeemanuel Ebbbooueeeeeee
